2014 in review

2014 is coming to an end. This is my first year as a blogger, and I just want to thank all of you so much for reading my things! It means so much to me! In the course of just a few months I’ve gotten almost 1000 views, almost 600 visitors and 70 followers!

I wanted to share a list of my top posts:

  1. 20 Random questions – tag  –  I’m surprised so many of you want to read random stuff about me lol
  2. No. 2: And Your Bird Can Sing (Anthology version) – The Beatles – YAY, other Beatles fans out there!
  3. Sally Hansen – Rule of Plum swatch – I understand, it is SOOO pretty
  4. 31 Day Nail Polish Challenge: Day 6: Violet Nails – For some reason this was incredibly popular considering it is one of the simpler challenge days
  5. 31 day nail polish challenge: Day 14: Flowers – Thank you, Robin Moses for inspiring my manicure 😉

Here are some of the countries where I have the most readers:

  1. United States – No wonder I always wake up to a lot of views (because of the time difference)
  2. Denmark – Not so weird, maybe some of my real-life friends contributed?
  3. United Kingdom

Countries I didn’t expect to get views from:

  1. Pakistan
  2. Lithuania
  3. Saudi Arabia

Thank you all so much for visiting my blog in 2014! I hope to see and hear from you again in 2015!

Happy New Year!

Manicure of the day #6 with tutorial: Sideways Chevron

This will be my new years eve-manicure this year. Not so festive per se, but I just didn’t feel like a themed manicure.

If you want to see how it’s done, here is the YouTube video:

Problems of a nail polish addict

Ugh.. Christmas was just here.. And if you’re a nail polish addict that probably means you got a bunch of new nail polishes. Oh no! Which to wear first? They’re all so pretty! And let’s face it, you’re curious as to how they look on the nail.

This is a problem I was faced with. Here is my solution to the problem:

A different polish on each nail! It looks ridiculous and I would think twice about going out in public like this, but hey, at least I got to see them all right away 😉

Maybelline Color Show: White Splatter swatch

I’ve actually been eyeing this polish a couple of times so I was pretty happy when I got it for christmas. The polish is a part of their street art(ist) collection.

I put in on top of Sally Hansen – Pat on the Black from yesterday and I was very pleasently surprised! I’m not normally into the effect-top coat-thing, but this has me second-guessing that! I looks pretty space-y and it reminds me of grafitti. I’m definitely going to try out the rest of the Street Artist collection after seeing this!

What do you think?

Sally Hansen – Pat on the Black swatch

YAY, Nail polish for christmas!

Which means I will be showing you some of the nail polishes I got. The first one I want to show you is another Sally Hansen. It is called Pat on the Black, and it is a very dark, rich purple.

One coat:

pat on the black 2

Two coats:

pat on the black 1

I feel like it could have used a third coat to smooth out the colour completely, but I fear it would be too dark.

With two coats the polish almost looks like black, which I guess inspired the name, but I kinda wish the first coat would be opaque enough because I think that could have been really pretty! With two coats it is very dark, but when light hits it it becomes lighter and it is actually quite pretty!

What do you think?

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – Review

Today, we went to see the last of the Tolkien-films. We’ve seen the other LOTR and The Hobbit-movies, so when we got free tickets for Christmas, we knew this was a must-see.

The movie wraps up the Hobbit-story and ends where the Lord of the Rings is about to begin. The dragon Smaug is killed in the beginning of the movie, and to be honest, that part of the movie was the most exciting. The movie goes on to depict the battle over the lonely mountain, but it seems like they should have made the book into two movies instead of three. The plot of the third was… well, a little boring.. The movie is about 2½ hours long and over an hour (!), yes I checked, an hour consists of the battle itself. Maybe half of that would have done it for wimps like myself who don’t really care too much for all that violence.

I think the movie is a good wrap-up and if you’ve been a fan of the Tolkien franchise, then you cannot miss the ending. But I must say, that I can name several of the other films that were remarkably better than this last one.

Disappointment would be the proper term for how I feel right now. I do admit that my expectations might have been too high, but I actually don’t recommend this movie as its own, but merely as an ending to a nice story.

Let me know what you thought of the film

Would you rather – tag

Would you rather walk around all day with you skirt tucked in your underwear or be seen wearing a really see through dress?
Shirt tucked in. Ugh, the thought of people seeing my underwear unintentionally.

Would you rather go to a party and not realize until the end of the night that you have lipstick on your teeth or that your fake lashes are coming unglued?

Hm. Fake eyelashes unglued. It’s something you see quite often at the end of the night, and I smile a lot at parties, so it would be too noticeable.

Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face?

Forget blush. Hot weather, cold weather, embarrassing moments, alcohol, whatever, and my cheeks are burning red.

Would you rather wear lipstick/lipliner combo or frosty blue eyeshadow?

The lips. I’m not too much into eyeshadow anymore actually..

Would you rather wear foundation that is two shades too light or go way overboard on bronzer?

Too light. If that’s even possible to buy 😀 My skin is quite fair already.

Would you rather drink an entire bottle of ketchup or run into the guy who broke your heart on a bad hair day when your skin is freaking out?

Uuuuh, tough one. Run in to the guy who broke my heart. He dumped when I looked my best, so I can’t really please him anyway, right?

Would you rather be able to date any celeb you wanted or wake up with perfect red carpet-worthy hair?

Had I been single I would have gone with the celeb, but I’m not, so I’ll have to choose the hair.

Would you rather your armpits smell musky or like delicious lasagna?

Lasagna. It would be weird, but delicious 😀

Would you rather give up your makeup or cell phone for one year?

My make-up. I’m not really a phone addict, but it’s nice to have. And you would just get used to the no-makeup-look.

Would you rather run into a cute guy you like with food all in your grill or no makeup at all?

No make-up. At least that shows intentionality.
