The Christmas Tag

I saw this tag on Allthingslaquer‘s blog and although I wasn’t tagged, I decided to do it anyway!

1. When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

My birthday is 26 november and I’ve always held to the fact that christmas should not start until after that! I’m always super excited for my birthday, so I don’t have time to get excited for christmas that before anyways. Continue reading

What I got for my birthday

As you might know, I turned 22 last thursday – thank you for all of your greetings on the day! That just made it even more special!

I got a bunch of lovely presents and I thought I’d share them with you.

I got a new rain coat because the other one was totally worn out. I also got The Sims 4, which is downloading as I am writing this.

I got a Kähler vase called ‘lovesong’ which has the lyrics to The Beatles’ ‘All You Need Is Love’ printed on it – of course I had to have that!

In the book department I got two – The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes and The Illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the Danish edition – it is SO beautiful!

In the make-up department I got the L’Oréal Nutri Gold Extraordinary Oil Day Creme and the Rimmel London Wonderfull Wake Me up mascara in extra-black. I also got some nail polish, but I’m going to throw that in with my post tommorow, which will be about my nail polish finds of November.

Shop BXB

I have been asked to spread the word of the webshop, but I am not being paid for it, nor will I recieve any kind of payment if you sign up and/or buy the products on the site.

On 2nd November a new webshop will be launched! It is called Shop BxB and will have 35000 products at low prices including top brands like Nars, Benefit, Estee Lauder, Clarins, YSL and more. I’ve already been browsing the site and added a few things to my christmas wishlist.

To celebrate the launch, the site will be holding a sale with up to 75 % knocked off the prizes with free worldwide shipping, but you must act quickly – the offer only stands for the first 48 hours – who can say no to that??

You can visit the site at

My participation in Dewey’s 24h readathon

This time around, I will participate in Dewey’s 24h readathon, which is basically a worldwide event where you read for 24 hours or as long as you are able to participate and there are cheerleaders and prizes and all sorts of nonsense. The starting time is syncronised to the world’s timezones so everyone starts and ends at the same time. We are still 3 hours away from kick-off, so there is still time for a late sign-up if you are interested! You can check out their website here and the starting times where YOU live here. Juggling your responsibilities

Now, the headline of this post might seem like I’m about to offer some advice on how to juggle your responsibilities, but in fact it is the quite opposite. It is just one, big jumble of my thoughts.

These days I’m struggling to find a good balance between doing the things I should be doing as opposed to the things I want to do.

I have all sorts of ‘life’-stuff to consider. What is my bachelor’s project going to be about? What should I study for my master’s degree – and where?

On top of all the big decisions, I have all sorts of smaller, everyday things to attend to. Cleaning, studying, cooking and finding a job.

It just seems like I can never find the energy or desire to do any of those things. They all fill up my mind at once so I don’t know where to start, so I just.. don’t start on anything. It is so much easier to put on another episode on Netflix or get my computer out or something. The responsibilities can wait, right? Well, they can’t wait much longer anymore.

Do you know that feeling? Having too much inside your head to actually get anything productive done? Telling yourself that it’s alright to push your responsibilities aside for a little while, but then never really relaxing anyways?

Blog Tour Award

I was nominated by Claire to do this Blog Tour Award Tag: You should definitely check out her and her blog – it’s really worth a read! The tag is all about telling others about the creative process that you go through.

The Award Rules:

  • Pass the tour on to at least four other bloggers.
  • Give your nominees the rules and specify the Monday in which they should post their nomination answers.
  • Answer the four questions about your creative processes, which allows other bloggers and visitors to understand what inspires you to do what you do.
  • Compose this one-time post on a specific Monday (date TBC by your nominator).

1. How does your work differ from others in your genre?

I’m not sure that it does. I mean, beauty-blogs are not very unique in the blogging world. I do try to vary my content so that you can’t anticipate my next post, otherwise I think it would get boring to read if it was just the same content over and over again. That is why I also throw in some post regarding other aspects of my life – to keep it fresh. Also, I think it is important to be honest in your reviews. That way other people will find you more reliable and come back for your other reviews.

2. How does your writing/creative process work?

If I want to write about lifestyle or movies or music or whatever the inspiration usually comes in my everyday life. Posts like that are often personal, so it’s natural to have the inspiration come to you as you go about your day. If I want to write about beauty, the content is usually determined by which products I’ve bought or tested out. Overall, I spend a lot of time in the blogging world, on YouTube, Pinterest etc. and I find that I often get my ideas through there.

3. Why do you write or create what you do?

To show people. A lot of my content, at least when I first started out, is nail art related and there are only so many times that my boyfriend can find it interesting to see my new creations, so it is nice to have an outlet where people express their opinion about what I’ve come up with. I’ve recently noticed that there is a much bigger interest in my beauty related posts than in anything else I write about, which is great since my the majority of my posts are about that, but the blog is still also an outlet to me, a place where I share my thoughts and though it’s a little demotivating not to have your posts received as positively as you’d hoped, I still want the blog to show other aspects of my personality.

4. What are you working on at the moment?

I have a collab coming up in July that I’m preparing for now because once I start working I won’t have that much time or energy. Apart from that I don’t really have anything “cooking”. I usually just write about what I feel like on a particular day. That is also why I don’t want to have a posting schedule – some weeks I have tons of ideas for posts and others I can hardly think of one, and I think, for me, it would be too forced if I had to produce an amount of posts each week.

Your deadline will be next monday 29th June. Please tag me in your posts – I’d love to read your answers! Have fun!

Bingeable + song of the day no. 9

Unbreakable! They’re alive. Dammit! It’s a miracle!

This line has been stuck in my head for  a week now! I can’t really put my finger on WHY, but I really, really love this intro song! It has me tapping the foot and rocking to the song for hours after turning off the TV.

The song is from the Netflix-series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. Kimmy has escaped from an apocalypse cult and has moved to New York City where she must try to navigate a world she has been absent from for 15 years.

The series is full of heartwarming naivety and humor while it tackles some problems that everyone has had or can relate to. Kimmy is a sweet person that you can relate to and that makes the show easier to watch. I will admit that the characters are at times too caricatured, but sometimes it’s nice to watch a show that doesn’t always try to be realistic and serious. If you’re on Netflix, you should definitely check out this show, I can highly recommend it and I look much forward to the next season!

Review: Tomorrowland – A World Beyond

3,5/5 stars

The movie has a promising storyline. Throughout the first half of the movie, when we’re presented with the premise, the story drags you in, partially because of the actual story and partially because of great visionary sequences. However, when it comes down to crunch-time, the plot is a little thin and hasty – almost as if the moviemakers forgot the movie was about to end and had to wrap it all up quickly. For the most part, the movie has you sitting at the edge of your seat, but eventually it just becomes predictable and it loses some of its entertainment value.

The movie is a great mix between a comedy and the post-apocalyptic thriller that we’ve gotten so familiar with, but it still has that hint of Disney that takes some of the seriousness away. The visual presentation of Tomorrowland is really great and that is what gives it that half-a-star extra. Had the movie been just half an hour longer, then it could have had more time for the ending and it would have deserved at least 4 stars.

What did you think of the movie?
