Manicure of the day #13: Inspired by Woodennails

In just a few short hours some of the girls from my choir are coming to visit me, and I am SO excited! They’re always amazing company.

Today’s manicure was inspired by Woodennails – she did this paintsplatter kind of look for the 31DC and I absolutely loved it! She is very talented, so you should definitely go check out her blog!

I like how these kind of look like thunder
I really liked the color combination, but I didn’t have a spare toothbrush to flick on the color with, like she did it, so I did it with the water spotting method instead like I did on day 20 of the challenge. I created the bulls-eye in the water and sprayed on a couple sprays of hairspray to make it seperate before I dipped in my finger.

Sorry about the band-aid here, I cut my finger.
I wanted to show you both hands, because with this technique, no nails look alike! There is a lot more yellow on the right hand which I was a little unpleased with at first, but now I think it looks pretty cool, and hey – it’s supposed to be different on all ten fingers!

The grey polish is Granite from Pieces and the yellow is Banana Pop by L’Oréal – it’s funny how the grey makes the yellow look like a neon color when it is actually a very sunny yellow.

What do you think? Did I do her design justice?

I’ve been shopping – again

Yesterday, was the day of tax returns. Yesterday, I “accidentally” looked in my local drugstores catalogue. You do the math. I’ve been shopping again.

31 Day Nail Polish Challenge: Day 22: Inspired by a song

I actually had something else planned for this day. But then time passed, and I didn’t complete the challenge as quickly as anticipated – I got better at painting my nails and getting ideas, so the challenge fell into the background a bit. And now it is february! Which means Valentine’s Day, if you’re celebrating that. I actually don’t but I suspect a lot of my readers do, so when I thought of this song and the nail art to go with it, I thought it was quite fitting for the season.

The song that inspired me was:

You all know I love the Beatles! Anyway, the song is about love and about sending it to someone. Here is the nail art I came up with:

I apologise for the yellow paint on my fingers - I've been painting.
Please excuse the yellow paint on my fingers – I’ve been painting.

Polishes used:

Depend – 136 (Pearly background)

Essie – Bordeaux (Dark red)

L’Oréal Paris – 210 (Pink)

Essie – Muchi, Muchi (light pink)

Essie – Fiji (very light pink)

L’Oréal Paris – 702 (Black)

Manicure of the day #9: Mountain Dotticure

Actually this was my manicure from two days ago I just didn’t get it uploaded until now..

One week without polish was all I could handle before cracking. But overall, I’m quite proud of myself for lasting that long. But my nails needed the break, and I think I’m going to try to leave my nails naked for at least 24 hours between my manicures from now on to give my nails some air.

I was going to do the water marble-challenge from 31 day challenge which I’m crazily behind on, but then I saw a video on YouTube with a really cool design that I wanted to recreate and the other one just had to wait! Mine is not nearly as pretty, but I was sort of going for a slightly different look anyway.

Here are the polishes I used (apart from base and top coat):

And here is the finished look!

It’s actually funny how quickly you can forget how to apply polish. I practically smeared it all over the place which left a lot of clean up to do.

If you liked my version, then definitely go check out the original version.

Over and out, Nanna
